When expanding pages, including more information or subjects on an already crated page, make sure to keep the following in mind:

  • Did I use outside references and/or check the timeline?

Often using other pages created on the wiki, especially list pages, can help you ensure all information on your expansion section is correct, and fits in with the established timeline.

  • Is the subject of my expansion related to the subject?

Whether you are creating a page of your own, or expanding a page, you should always keep in mind the subject of the page. For example, if your page, or someone else's page, is titled "List of Largest Strawberries in the World," don't create a section titled "Largest Blueberries." Even paragraphs or sentences that are off-topic damage the overall focus of the article.

  • What can I add to expand pages?

There are two main things you can add to articles to improve them. The first is simply adding on to the information already established on the page. For whatever reason, an author may have decided to stop filling in a table, or section with information, or could've moved on to another project. If this is the case, adding on to the table or section will be extremely helpful to make sure the information is complete. This is where outside references come in handy!

The second main thing you can add to articles is additional stories, facets, or events that make the article more interesting or more complete. For example, if a sports league page doesn't have a section about its financial structure, add some details about its financial structure. This would add another facet to the league, and make it more complete, adding reality as well. As another example, you could add an additional story to the history or background of a topic. For example, if expanding a page on the invention of a certain drug, you could add a story about how the scientist discovered the drug after a bicycle crash. Be creative!

REMEMBER: If adding new and creative sections to pages, or creating new pages that include facets of other topics, like settings, events, etc, it would be extremely helpful to everyone if you could have a conversation with the original creator of the page, or main steward of a certain topic, and discuss your ideas for changes to pages or new pages which include certain topics. To do this, view the history at the top of a page you wish to expand, and select the user or users who have contributed the most to the page, or who are listed as the stewards of the page. This also includes creating pages, if you wish to use a topic or event, search for the page, and find the users who have contributed the most to it.
