The Western Roofball Conference (WRC) is one of two conferences that make up the Quentinian Roofball Organization (QRO), the other being the Eastern Roofball Conference (ERC). Like the ERC, the WRC has twelve teams, divided up into four divisions. Both conferences were created in 1939 with the creation of the league itself, and each plays separate tournament brackets leading up to championship games, the WRC's being the WRC Title Game. The current WRC champions are the Verisitium Vipers, who defeated the Bakersfieldville Breadbakeesdekline in the 2019 WRC Title Game, winning the title for the 13th time as a franchise.

History and Addition of Teams

The Western Roofball Conference was founded in 1939 with the creation of the Quentinian Roofball Organization as one of its two conferences.

Current Teams

Season Structure

During the QRO regular season, all teams are eligible to play each other, no matter their division or conference. However, all teams play the other two teams in their division four times over the course of the season, a rule set in place by the QRO council in 1947. While not a rule, scheduling generally makes teams play teams from their conference at the onset of the season, then teams from the other conference during the middle of the season, and teams from their conference once again at the end, though there are many exceptions. All throughout the season, teams are ranked based on their win-loss records, and the seven teams with the best record in each conference advance to the tournament. The top team receives a bye the first week, and the six that remain play in the preliminary round. The winners advance to the divisional round, and the winners of that advance to the title game. The WRC champion then plays the ERC champion in the Champions Cup.

The logo of the WRC is similar to that of the ERC, however is a blue color instead of the gold of the ERC's logo. The WRC logo also does not include the date it was founded in its logo, unlike the ERC's, which does. Stars have been added to the logo with the addition of each new team to the conference, with the last star being added in 1967 with the addition of the Poleton Gangsters.

Television

In the early days of the QRO, television was handled by the Diamond Television Network, which broadcast only 2 games per week for the first eleven years. In 1950, when the league started back up again after a ten year pause for budget issues, the league was much more popular, and the DTN decided to broadcast all of the Sunday games on a completely new channel devoted to the occasion. In 1961, the Quentinian Broadcasting Corporation also began broadcasting games with the consent of the league, and the deal was that the DTN could broadcast all WRC home games while the QBC broadcasted all ERC home games. This system stayed in place until 1972, when a new deal signed by the league and the two networks agreed to give the DTN all late games Sunday, and the QBC all early games, while primetime games would also belong to the DTN. In 1986 the deal changed again with the rise of the Founders Sports Network, which was given all primetime games. Finally in 2000 the deal was finalized as it is today, with the DTN getting all early games, Tuesday games, and WRC tournament games as well as the Brightwater Cup, QBC gets the later games, ERC tournament games and the Upper Desert Rivalry Cup, and FSN gets Friday games and the Founders Traditional Cup.
