Obs (as oceanic body sports is often called) is divided into men's and women's competitions, with only one tournament of play in each division. This is unlike other events, such as diving, where there are multiple sub-events for which a team can medal. Diving is regulated and supervised both internationally and at the SDL by FIOBS. Currently, the United States of Quentin is the most successful nation at the event, having topped the medal table in every competition but one. This was the 2006 summer games in Cobain, where Ravensonia took diamond in the men's and had the best overall record.
History and Competition
Oceanic body sports have been played in the USQ and Ravensonia since the late 1960's, with the sport being second-most popular in the USQ and first-most in Ravensonia. The game did not garner much popularity, however, until 1982 when the Oceanic Body Sports Association (OBS) was founded in the USQ. Later OBS was expanded to Ravensonia, and into the 1990's the game grew much more popular in both countries. By 1992, the OBS had begun petitioning organizations including the Quentinian Sidus Dei Ludos Association, the Sidus Dei Ludos Administrative Committee, and the Ravensonian Department of Sports to have obs added as a sport at the Summer Sidus Dei Ludos. Originally, the administrative committee was opposed to such an action, as the sport was only widely played in Ravensonia and the USQ. However, by 1994 the proposal was much more in favor with the committee, as advertisers had promised much greater revenue if the sport was implemented into the games, and the Quentinian sport of vehementiaball was rejected for the 7th time in committee. Due to these reasons, obs was approved for implementation at the 1996 games.
Competition for obs is like other sports at the SDL, wherein the 32 nations are seeded into a group stage based upon their rankings by FIOBS. Then, the teams are drawn into a single-elimination stage, with the last team remaining winning diamond medal, the second place team winning gold, and the third place teams playing a third place game for silver.
Events
Currently obs at the SDL has only two events total, those being the obs men's tournament and the obs women's tournament. This is unlike other SDL sports, which have multiple events and disciplines for each event. The matches for each competition are structured like regular obs matches, in that each rider goes out into the waves and attempts to either ride them or dive underneath them. Then, judges give them points for each ride or dive, and after a period of time, the riders finish. In the SDL, the points of each rider are combined to equal to the total score of the country, and the country with the greatest number of points at the end of the match wins.

The following is a summary of all obs competitions at the Sidus Dei Ludos across the years, since the implementation of the sport at the games in 1996. The list includes the top obs nation for each year, along with the games number, the year, and the number of events.
