The United States of Quentin Department of the Treasury (QUEDOTR), known in the United States of Quentin as simply the Department of the Treasury, is a Quentinian federal executive department of the federal government, tasked with creating all of the nation's currency, collecting taxes, managing the nation's budget, and other financial instruments. The Department of the Treasury is headed by the GTNEC, currently Steve Shamji, who has control over the operations of the department, but must take requests from Congress as well. Notable bureaus of the QUEDOTR include the National Bureau of Federal Taxes (NBFT), the United States of Quentin National Mint, and the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BOEP).
The Department of the Treasury was among the first executive departments founded in the nation after the signing of the nation's Constitution, being the 6th department founded. In 1835, the government had created the first three departments, however soon it was clear the nation needed a currency, and a budget management system, as the nation had fallen into enormous debt. The Constitution charged the GTNEC with both responsibilities, however Congress disagreed on how the powers should be implemented, either as dependent or independent executive power. As Congress had set the legal precedent of creating executive departments with their creations in 1835, the government was gridlocked on what to do with the issue. Finally in 1840, GTNEC Max Wagner issued a decree to Congress, entitled GTNEC Max Wagner Decree I, stating that due to the inaction of Congress, he would authorize the creation of a new Department of the Treasury, with him at the head, which would be in charge of printing money, and setting taxes. Congress protested, however the department continued to exist.
The Department of the Treasury is currently located at the Ravenclaw Park Treasury Building, which was built around 1858. Max Wagner insisted the building not be named after him, and Ravenclaw Park was the road on which is built. Most of the day to day operations are handled there, however the GTNEC spends much time at 777 Cupboard Place, commuting to the Park Treasury Building when needed.
