The Impeachment Proceedings of Harris Lorghenburghan were the impeachment proceedings of Harris Lorghenburghan, the Head Quentinian Diplomat to Paladinia for the United States of Quentin. The proceedings were begun on May 15th, 2019 when the House of Bureaucrats initiated the proceedings when the voted to begin impeachment hearings, led by House of Bureaucrats Minority Leader Avanti Athavale, passed. The proceedings, which were neither publicly supported or denounced by President of the USQ Kyle Lovestington, who merely allowed the proceedings to go on, were charges of negligence of duty as well as disobedience to orders. The vote took place on June 28th, 2019, resulting in impeachment, however no additional punishment was levied.

Background

Harris Lorghenburghan has served as the Head Quentinian Diplomat to Paladinia for nearly 49 years, beginning in 1970 when Quentinian Secretary of Foreign Affairs Frasier Crane appointed him to the position. He was a staple of President of the USQ David Wagner's diplomacy force for 28 years, and was awarded the Dogood Medal of Diplomacy in 1987. In 2018, Head Diplomat Lorghenburghan is said, by the prosecution team, to have been asked to step down from his position by President Lovestington, who cited old age and a need for the man to rest. After he reportedly refused, Foreign Affairs Secretary Lauren Semmel sent him letters of discharge in Paladinia, which were supposedly ignored. When the staff at the embassy were ordered to remove him, he reportedly ignored those as well, until the Fort McCarthy Defense Force was ordered to remove him forcefully, and bring him to trial.

Trial

The trial was begun after the House of Bureaucrats voted to begin impeachment proceedings on May 15th, 2019. The trial was begun on April 1st, with Avanti Athavale as the primary questioner, and Franklin Bosse acting as the defense. Proceedings moved forward from that date until April 29th, with the letter from the President revealed. A recess was taken until June 1st, which ran until June 10th, coming with an admittance from Lorghenburghan to not only have disobeyed orders, but also be under the influence of drugs acquired in the Chip Area weeks before. After taking a final recess on June 10th, the vote was begun on June 28th, resulting in an overwhelming 18-2 vote for impeachment.
