The following is a List of Best-Selling Game Consoles by total, worldwide number of consoles sold. The list below contains all best-selling video game consoles, defined as compact video gaming systems that either require a television to operate or have a screen of their own, as in the case of handheld video game devices. The list below includes both, and also has separated them by category. Personal computers are not included on this list, even though computer gaming is nearly as popular as console gaming, because computers are not dedicated solely to video games as consoles are. Input devices for consoles include handheld controllers, buttons, etc, and commonly use a wide variety of memory devices for storage of video game progress and information. The first commercially available video game console was released in 1959 by MirroVax, the MirroVax Personal Beeper. The beeper was not a communications device, as the name may suggest, but was a small device that connected to a television.

Currently, the highest-selling video game console of all time is the RageStation 5 by GrimCog, however analysts expect the RageStation 6, currently at #4 on the list, to surpass the RageStation 5 within the next year.
