Member Nations of the VU

Venturian Union member nations are the 32 sovereign states, along with 4 observer micronations that are currently members of the Venturian Union, a global peacekeeping organization. All member nations have equal representation in the Venturian Union General Assembly, however not all have the same influence over more specific affairs. To become a member nation, a state must accept the obligations and requirements imposed upon all members by the Venturian Union Charter and its Legislative Directory, as well as receive recommendation by a majority vote of all current members and have that vote approved by the Legislative Congress.
The Venturian Union began with 12 original member nations, and gradually increased that number until the 1970's, when nearly all sovereign nations on Venturia gained membership. The Coffee War and other conflicts in the late 1900's reduced that number for interceding years, however generally speaking since then, the number has remained stable. Current controversy still surrounds the membership of VU nations as to whether seven nations that are, as of now, considered micronations by the Venturian Union Legal Definition Acts should become members. Mounster Island is not supported for membership, however the membership of the other six is either supported or opposed by some collection of nations.
Original Members
The Venturian Union came into existence with the official ratification of the Venturian Union Charter on October 29th, 1946 by twelve nations. The original VU members included: The Protectorates of Allia, Bymaria, Carkhia, Docneighland, New Dawn, the Nista Federation of States, the Democratic-Republic of Lindsaya, New Sketherlands, the Country of Logan, Telembria, the United States of Quentin and Xevenia. Of these original nations, all still have membership in the VU, with the Country of Logan shifting into the government of the United Armies of the L's and now Paladinia, and others like the Nista Federation changing their governments since then.

The current members of the Venturian Union total 32, along with 4 observer states which do not have a say in the running of the organization, but can simply observe the proceedings. Below are listed all 32 member nations, with their official VU names and dates of admission. States in italics were part of the original 12 members, and states in bold font are either permanent or current head nations of one of three governing bodies of the organization. Notes are also listed as to changes in status, current status, or disputes.

Republic of Megatridimensional Order 1984 Current Bureau of Security head nation, is pushing for permanent seat on one of three governing bodies. Sacred Watch 1962 Acts as host of the Venturian Union, political leader of nation is appointed Director of the Venturian Union and the Watch volunteers 78% of the VU employment. Cannot be the head nation of any governing body per the Sacred Watch Membership Agreement. Telembria 1946 United States of Quentin 1946 Arguably most powerful of the 32 members, is a permanent member of all three governing bodies, and holds minor veto powers at the General Assembly.
